From the 2020/21 winter season, Gasthof zum Stern will have 15 pairs of snowshoes in various sizes – we will be offering to our houseguests, a guided evening tour free of charge at least once a week. With a headlamp and snowshoes we set of at ease through deep forests and romantic snow-covered winter landscapes on "trappers" trails. The snowshoes including headlamp and poles are available to all our houseguests free of charge.
The Ötztal Valley is one of the most popular regions for winter holidays. Sport-loving winter guests defiantly get their money's worth here. With 6 fantastic ski areas and a multitude of lifts and slopes, the Ötztal is one of the largest ski regions in Tyrol. We have all your winter sports demands cover with the snow-sure skiing area Obergurgl -Hochgurgl, the après ski stronghold of Sölden and the family oriented skiing areas of Hochoetz and Kühtai.
With 6 ski areas, the Ötztal Valley is one of the largest ski regions in Tyrol. With combinable lift passes you can take advantage of multipul ski areas - the free shuttle bus takes skiers safely from the beginning to the end of the valley. Not only the sports-mad skier but also the cross-country skier, tobogganist, ice skater or winter hiker will find many opportunities in the Ötztal Valley to spend an active and relaxing holiday.

Skiing in the Ötztal
Ski resorts: Kühtai, Hochoetz, Niederthai, Sölden, Vent and Obergurgl/Hochgurgl - the Ötztal has something to offer every skier.
Cross-country skiing
Skating or classic - on the 1500 metre high sunny plateau in Niederthai or on the valley floor in Längenfeld. Kilometres of well-signposted cross-country trails demand fitness and skill. Of course, there is also something for leisurely cross-country skiers!
